Standard for completed cosmetics weren’t prescribed under guidelines for very long time. In early 80’sthe specifications formed by Indian Standards Institution (ISI) now known as Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) were modified criteria and more makeup products were adopted under it. Now, as many as 20 makeup products have been placed under the routine ‘S’ of makeup products and are required to comply with the prescribed standards. Any of the above cosmetics, that are imported to India, should confirm to Indian Standard Labeling of Makeup products.

Further that in case there is soaps instead of batch number, 12 months of production of soaps shall be given or label is given month and. 5- Manufacturing license number being preceeded by “M”. 6- When package of beauty has only 1 label such label shall contain all information necessary to be shown on both internal and outer brands under this guideline.
